Workshops And Site Tour

A workshop is an additional learning opportunity offered in an intimate setting that enables you to enhance your learning experience. It is comprised of interactive formats that enable you to bounce ideas off other delegates to create thought-provoking experiences and note takeaways that you can implement in your workplace.

Workshop A: 25th July 2018, Wednesday

7:00 am - 9:00 am Achieve Energy Conservation and Carbon Abatement in Intelligent Buildings

Ian Dixon, Sustainability & Applied Research Team Leader,AECOM Richard Morrison, ICT Practice Lead,AECOM
Buildings are a major contributor to global carbon emissions. An emerging suite of new policies and changes to Green Building ratings tools are converging, providing renewed focus on buildings to reduce energy use and contribute to the decarbonisation of the built environment. Intelligent building technology, used alongside conventional energy conservation practices provides an opportunity to further optimise buildings and provide cost effective mechanisms to drive further energy saving and carbon emission reductions.

Enjoy a Complimentary Breakfast, Tea & Coffee while you learn to

  • Exploring the drivers affecting buildings infrastructure to future proof assets
  • Understanding the application of smart technology in intelligent buildings
  • Creating a sustainable environment to enhance experience of end user

Site Tour: 27th July 2018, Friday

9:00 am - 11:00 am Mirvac EY Building; See Intelligent Buildings in Action

Guests will take a guided tour inside the six levels of Mirvac head office conducted by Mirvac staff followed by a presentation on the key energy efficient and cost effective features of the building along with a discussion on the technical challenges faced during the development of this major project.

200 George Street by Mirvac is one of a new breed of office buildings. It embraces innovation and high technology to produce a tower form that is organic and responsive.  As one of the first ‘Intelligent Buildings’ in Australia, the building utilises technology to achieve exemplary energy efficiency and sustainability.

This site tour will include:

  • Exploring the highly effective façade system controlling light and heat radiating from outside
  • Understanding the air tightness systems which prevent the loss of conditioned air from within the building
  • Analysing how the façade system provides significant energy savings in both heating and cooling the building
  • Identifying the network of sensors which respond to occupancy and environmental conditions to optimise performance
